BOKArmy 2024 Christmas Walk and Lunch
This year's Christmas gathering and celebration is kindly organised by Howard and Sally Thomas, hosted by Stinchcombe Golf Club, and will take place on Thursday 12th December. As usual, you are invited to complete a short form indicating whether or not you can come, and what you'd like to eat if you do come.
The walk will be a little shorter than usual, in order to avoid too much mountaineering in that area, but with varied terrain and some very special views, and we will not need to hurry. The going should be reasonable, though perhaps with a bit of mud in places if it's been wet beforehand, and some stony/rooty bits as well. Boots or good walking shoes recommended.
The menu is limited but reasonable, and you can choose one (£14), two (£22) or three (£27) courses, all of which include coffee and mince pie afterwards.
Logistics
- Assembly and parking are at Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club, Dursley GL11 6AQ - What3Words staining.flows.overlook. Howard says that access is as follows:
- Via Dursley town centre, navigate to the Old Spot pub by turning right at the roundabout before the pedestrianised shopping streets and drive up the steep hill to the top. At the T junction, turn right and after c.100m the car park is on the right.
- From the east, Tetbury etc; there is a choice to either drive via Breakheart Quarry along the narrow lane until you arrive at the golf course or drive into Dursley and stay on the road until the roundabout after Sainsbury’s and then go straight on to the Old Spot and up the hill. If you don’t fancy the narrow lane the latter is a quick and good alternative.
- Meeting time: 10:00-10:30
- Walk starts: 10:30
- Return: 12:00-12:15
- Seated for meal: 13:00
- Clubhouse rules: clean shoes must be worn in the clubhouse
- Toilets available before and after the walk
Registration
In the usual fashion, you need to go to the registration form here and state your intentions, and lunch order if relevant, by no later than midnight on Wednesday 4th December. Please do this even if unable to come, so that we can track who has responded and who hasn't.
