After a long long rest, it looks as if we can restart orienteering in April, and we have a packed programme in store for you all!
The much missed NGOC League:
- This kicks off at the newly-mapped Barrow Wake, site of the proposed Green Bridge pictured above, on Saturday 3 April.
- There’s another new area – Bright’s Hill, at Huntley – the following weekend, on 10 April.
- Then on 1 May we will be at Cooper’s Hill, on slightly more familiar terrain.
Two midweek evening MapRun events, at Upton St Leonards on 22 April, and Thornbury (TBC).
We also aim to have MapRun training courses available in the Forest of Dean each weekend when there is no league event, using some of the nicest bits of the forest: through April these will visit Soudley, Chestnuts and Lightning Tree Hills, and Flaxley (which is nice, despite what those who have experienced it might think!!).
Finally, if we have time amidst all this activity to complete the courses, you can take to your bikes on a week long Easter MapRide Challenge, taking in the four stages of the Tour de Foret, with two brand new ones and some small revisions to the existing ones.
Pre-entry will be required for the events (both League and MapRun), but the training and MapRides will be available to run for free at your leisure. Fabian4 pre-entry is now open for the 3 league events. You can enter as many as you wish in one transaction.
