NGOC is delighted to welcome you to an Urban event in the historic cathedral city of Hereford, on a brand new area and map. This is a Regional event for which ranking points will be awarded.

The Area

The area is a mix of medieval city centre, including cathedral grounds and castle green, to the north of
the river Wye and the Leisure centre surrounds and Playing fields to the south. Longer courses will
also run through residential areas.

Directions and parking

The rowing club is approached from the main A49 through Hereford at the Barton Road traffic lights. Follow signs towards the Waterworks Museum and Crematorium, turning left(from the South) at the first lights after crossing the Wye. From the North, look out for the Crematorium/Waterworks Museum signs and get into the right hand lane to turn right at the Barton Street lights.

Immediately after turning off the A49 take the first left into Greyfriars Avenue, which will be O signed. Parking is in a level field adjacent to Hereford Rowing Club at the far end of Greyfriars Avenue.

There is a parking charge of £2 per vehicle, payable at Registration.

Start and Finish are co-located 850m from Assembly. The route follows urban streets on footpaths with two road crossings: one road is crossed using an underpass, the other road may be crossed at traffic lights (not usually busy). Children should be accompanied.
There is a pay and display car park near to the Start/Finish: Wye Street Car Park (HR2 7RB), 1 hour £1/ 2 hour £2 – REMEMBER TO DOWNLOAD at the ROWING CLUB if you use this, and note that as there is no pre-entry for this event you must register and pay at Assembly before running.

Contactless punching will be enabled, but standard dibbers will also work in normal mode. The Start and Finish controls must be punched by all competitors, SIAC enabled or not.

Regrettably there will be no string course at this race, due to the lack of a suitable and interesting area for it.

Dogs are permitted, but all event areas are public urban land; dogs must be controlled appropriately, and their fouling properly cleaned up and disposed of.
