Unlike most of our MapRun courses this one is wholly rural, using the wonderful network of lanes, byways and footpaths on the side of the Wye Valley between Brockweir and St Briavels, astride Offa's Dyke. The map is a custom-drawn one which shows only the key detail needed for navigating the course. The whole area slopes down from the heights of St Briavels to the Wye at Brockweir, so climb is a serious challenge, and working out how to score points while avoiding too much up and down is key to a good score.
Parking At the Brockweir Community Shop, or if that's busy, on the roadside down the hill towards and below the MacKenzie Hall. The parking is not owned by the shop, so you can legitimately park there, but you should buy something anyway, and support it. It's a great place for a coffee or lunch after your run, and a very well stocked shop, so do use it.Start On the road right by the entrance to the shop car parkFinish In the play field below the shop, right down towards the bottom corner furthest from the road.Terrain Rural footpaths, fields and lanes.
