As we come to the end of the 2024 League we need to turn our thoughts to our 2025 programme. By Christmas we will have staged 19 league races; it should have been 20 but the postponed Cirencester race was eventually held on about the wettest evening of the year, and only a small handful of bedraggled runners were brave enough to run it, so we dropped it from the league results. For 2025 we would like to get close to similar numbers of events, and are keen to hear from anyone who fancies planning one. There is a spreadsheet available on our Google Drive which lists possible dates, and some potential venues, so if you are interested in planning a race, email Maprun@ngoc.org.uk and we can send you a link and some more details. Don’t be constrained by the venue list; we’ll be happy to consider anywhere that is suitable and reasonably accessible.

In the meantime, two more races to see out the 2025 league, so head over to Fabian4 and sign up for Magor and Ebley – should be great races in new areas.

Many thanks to Alan Pucill for a very enjoyable day at The Dowards, and to all of you for turning up on what proved to be a lovely day. There was much positive comment about the area, and we hope we will be able to use it again, though we were taken to task by a supposed landowner who reckoned he owned the road on which we parked; Forestry England didn’t tell us that!

Anyway, results are now published on the Results page, together with a new innovation we’d like to try out with a view to introducing it for the League series in 2025 – a simple feedback form which you are invited to use – anonymously, or otherwise if you would like a personal response – to give us constructive comment on any aspect of the event. Our objective is to help build the skills of our organisers, planners and map makers, and thereby improve the quality of our events, so whilst we are happy to hear good things, what we really want to hear is what we could better. The form will be available for one week after the event.
