Many thanks to everyone who came to our first MapRun of 2023, and inaugural race in our new 2023 MapRun league. It was a chilly evening, but plenty of high scores to be had, though no one managed a full house. The Matson/Abbeydale area is a great place for MapRunning, as there is such a strong network of paths and accessible open spaces, so plenty of scope for getting off the suburban roads, and only one fairly busy main road through the area. The general view was that a full house should be possible, but perhaps in daylight and with some forward planning!
We are grateful to the Redwell Centre for letting us park there; the area has very few communal parking areas, and this made a change from the usual Abbeydale Community centre as a base for our race.
As well as the usual MapRun Leader Board and Tracks, you can find the 2023 league scores on the Results page, or via the links below. League scores are designed to try and level the playing field age and fitness wise, by scoring runners according to how many points they score per Km run. The average points per Km across all runners scores 1000 points, and individual scores are then based on the runner’s points/km relative to the average.
