Late Summer MapRuns

Late Summer MapRuns

Our series of late Summer MapRuns is now published. We have a mix of venues, some largely urban, some semi-rural. These are ideal races for people looking for pleasant early evening running, or getting fit for more serious orienteering and other races towards the Autumn. As usual, the format is simple; you have 60 minutes to collect as many points as possible by visiting checkpoints of varying value. So picking a route that you can do in the time allowed whilst visiting as many high scoring controls as you can is key.

That said, you don’t have to be competitive; if you just fancy a stroll or jog around some lovely local towns, villages and countryside you will be made most welcome. All you need is the MapRun App on your smartphone; the App will record your progress, give you a satisfying beep as you find each checkpoint, and will save your results to the MapRun system when you finish. You can pre-enter at Fabian4.co.uk, which is preferred, so that we know how many maps to print, or you can just turn up on the day, and hope that we have enough maps for you. It costs £5 to enter, for which you get third party liability insurance, a nice waterproof map that you can use again and again, and a cake or two at the Finish!

The next few races are:

  • 22 August – Ledbury
  • 5 September – Berry Hill, Forest of Dean
  • 18 September – Newnham
  • 26 September – Hereford North East
  • 10 October – Gloucester Centre

and you can find details of each on here a couple of weeks or so before each race. You can read more about MapRun at ngoc.org.uk/maprun-gloucestershire
