Thanks to Tom Cochrane for his map and the planning and everyone who helped from marshalling at the road crossing to parking and collecting in controls. Special thanks go to Forest Green Rovers for their wonderful hospitality.
Planner’s comments
I hope you enjoyed the event in Nailsworth today – it’s been a place that I’ve thought for a while would make a good urban venue, with different densities of housing spread across hills and valleys, so I gradually put a map together and was persuaded to put on an associated event!
There was one omission on the map – an unmapped cut-through South of control 223 – that a number of people noticed, and that changed the optimal routes a bit. Also, the course overprint wasn’t as clear as it might have been. Sorry about those. Fingers crossed they didn’t detract too much from people’s runs overall. I was glad to see the number of different routes people had taken on the longer legs, and the fact that climb was a significant consideration in route choice. The intricate housing estate near the start was also popular – it was fun to stand and watch people running through in multiple directions.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make the event run so smoothly: controller Ian Phillips, everyone who helped beforehand and on the day (particularly Pat Macleod for helping from super-early with setup), Forest Green Rovers (in particular Head of FGR Community Sarah Urquhart) for hosting us, and Nailsworth Town Council for the start area.
