The UK’s biggest annual orienteering festival, the JK, is currently taking place in the Lake District. NGOC members have been among 2000 runners enjoying the courses and the sunshine: thanks to all the clubs from the North West who have done such a great job putting the events on!
You can find all the results here.
- On Friday the Sprint took place at Lancaster University: fast running around campus buildings, where it was all about executing your route quickly. Having all successfully battled the M6 traffic to get to the event, Vanessa Lawson was 11th on W50, Ros Taunton 16th on W70, Tom Cochrane 5th on M35, and Rob Finch 51st on the top M21E course.
- Saturday’s Middle took us to tricky Lakeland terrain at High Dam: testing courses on a very nice area with a good map. There was a top-10 finish for Pete Ward (10th in M50L), while Reuben Lawson was closest in time to his class winner, 8:44 behind to come 11th on M18E. Rob Finch finished narrowly in the top half of M21E to qualify for the premier elite course on Sunday.
- Neighbouring Bigland was the venue for Sunday’s Long race, with some courses taking well over two hours to complete. Another great run from Reuben Lawson saw him finish 9th on M18E. Also running the elite courses, Jessica Ward was 18th and Rose Taylor 29th on W18E, Rebecca Ward 9th on W20E and Rob Finch 55th on M21E1. Other results included Pete Ward 16th on M50L, Vanessa Lawson 21st on W50L, Ginny Hudson 19th on W60L and Ros Taunton 13th on W70L.
- Today (Monday) the weekend comes to a close with the Relays at Dale Park: good luck to all our teams!
