Routegadget for Saturday evening’s run on Painswick beacon is now available.
If you have been looking at the results over the weekend you may have been puzzled by the scores changing a couple of times. Probably not nearly as puzzled as I was, though, trying to work out why scores in the official WNL spreadsheet differed from those on the web. I decided the latter must be right, and changed the published scores, only to realise this morning that the error was in the WNL spreadsheet, not the published scores, and it was all down to the points values for controls 218 and 229 being out of sequence! If you visited both, they cancelled each other out. If you only went to one of them, you were up or down, depending on which you went to. That’s what happens when you have to transcribe data from one place to another! Anyway, now hopefully sorted.
One final word, before we look forward to our next WNL, which will hopefully be on 2nd January, at Blakeney Hill or Staple Edge. We have had one retrospective request for a refund of entry fees. We will accept it, but no more; there was plenty of time to cancel and claim a refund before the race, for COVID reasons. We have printed maps for people we expected to turn up, we incur significant refund transaction costs, and we have no way of knowing if you have just forgotten about the event, or didn’t feel like running that night, if we allow retrospective cancellations.
