Have you ever wondered what Gloucestershire looked like as an orienteering map? Thanks to the latest batch of LiDAR data from the Environment Agency, you can now get an idea!
We’ve generated a map with contours, vegetation, water, man-made features, and hill shading to pick out the most detailed features. It won’t have all the details that a regular orienteering map might, but it gives an idea of the terrain.
Quiz
We also have a related quiz: we’ve taken 20 extracts from the map, including some commonly-used orienteering areas, other well-known local landmarks, and a few tricky ones. Can you identify where they are?
Answers to the quiz are now available.
