The origins of the Terry Bradstock Trophy are lost in the mists of time now, but Terry was an early member of the club, who sadly died quite young. Since 1980 those in the know have competed for the trophy, and it has been awarded to 17 different club members in the 41 years that we have been able to find a winner, the missing years being 2001(Foot and Mouth) and 2020(Covid). However, most club members have not really been 'in the know', and even those who are haven't really understood how the winner has been found - a mystery art largely in the hands of John Fallows.
For 2023 we are changing the rules, and we invite everyone in the club to compete for this, our only physical trophy. In essence, the trophy has been awarded to the best club performer in a narrow set of national events - the JK, the British Champs etc - with scores calculated using a secret and incomprehensible formula. Henceforth the number of qualifying events will be increased, with event selection being made each year by the committee and including a balance of high profile major events, and more accessible national and regional ones. There will typically be 7 qualifying events, with 4 to count towards your points score.
Scoring will be based on your performance in your age class, relative to that of the age class winner at the event. More details will follow in due course.
The qualifying events will be highlighted each year on the main Events page.
